Sasnava Camping Area, Lithuania
"My husband and I took the Baltic States Route. So passing by Marijampole, we found a nice camping area in the village of Sasnava, which is located on the way from Kaunas to Marijampole. It's 40 minutes driving from Kaunas and 15 minutes from Marijampole. The campsite has electricity, water supply and sewage system. If you are ready to sleep in a tent, there are showers and WC." ~ Renata

Do You Like Beans in Your Chili?
| If you're camping at this chilly time of year, a hot bowl of chili will warm your bones. There are lots of recipes for making chili, but one of the main differences in recipes is the addition of beans. Some folks just can't tolerate these little gas pills. So what is your preference? TIP: if you rinse your beans to remove the bubbly juices before you add them to your chili (or any recipe with canned beans), they don't seem to be as gassy. |

Plymouth Campground, Lake Umatilla, Oregon
"This was our campsite. We camped with our large family and our two tents. The tent pad was blacktop and almost too small for our two good-sized tents, but would be fine for an average tent or two." ~ Linda

Sausage Stew
This is a simple one-pot dish that uses your favorite sausage and vegetables. There's no right or wrong way to make this stew. You can cook it in a big pot on your camp stove, you could prepare it in a Dutch oven over charcoal, or you could use a foil baking pan by the campfire. If there are any veggies that you prefer, just add them to the mix. For added flavor, try using two or three different types of sausage together.

What Do You Like On Your Hotdog?
| Hotdogs are one of the most popular foods cooked at the campground. Who hasn't sat around a campfire at night roasting a hotdog on a stick. There isn't any right or wrong way to eat, prepare or top a hotdog. If you had a table full of condiments and you had just plopped a juicy hotdog in a bun, what toppings would you most likely choose to complete your dog? My favorite combo is mustard, chili, shredded cheddar and chopped sweet onion. They call this a coney where I come from. What's your favorite? Take the poll. Multiple selections are allowed, so you may choose any combination of toppings for your hotdog. If you have another way to garnish a hotdog, please click on the comments link below and tell us about it. |
